Insanity: Ex-CJ Panganiban backs filing of sedition against RevGov brains

Former Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban believes allies of President Rodrigo Duterte pushing for a revolutionary government should be charged with inciting sedition.

“The legal community led by Integrated Bar of the Philippines president Domingo Egon Cayosa wants to charge the RevGov promoters with ‘inciting to sedition’. I agree, but subject to the caveat that facts must be proven according to the rules of evidence, not necessarily according to media reports,” said Panganiban in his Inquirer column.

Panganiban said a RevGov would only be possible if it was backed by the military. “Cory Aquino set aside the 1973 Constitution. The resulting revolutionary government during her first year succeeded because our people, backed up by the military, supported it. A year later, the 1987 Constitution took effect,” said Panganiban.

Panganiban lauded Duterte for his “firm disavowal” of RevGov, including public rejection from his Cabinet men.

Last August 22, 300 pro-Duterte supporters assembled at the Clark Freeport to support a “revolutionary government” to be headed by Duterte until the end of his term in 2022. The event was organized by abogado Francisco “Arlene” Buan Jr., national spokesperson of the Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte-National Executive Coordinating Committee (MRRD-NECC).
