The Integrated Bar of the Philippines congratulated Avelino Sales Jr., its Commission on Bar Discipline Director, for being named recipient of the José Ma. Panganiban Award for Law.
The award is conferred by the Holy Rosary Seminary Alumni Foundation Inc. to an alumnus who have advanced the ideals of learning, public responsibility, civic leadership, and service to society.
The alumni association said Sales’ record as teacher, lawyer, IBP leader, trustee, corporate secretary, and director of bar discipline shows his lifelong dedication to intellectual formation, justice, professional integrity, and the common good.
It said that more than technical competence, he showed a moral imagination that considered the law to be a public trust.
He also strengthened Catholic and Jesuit institutions.
“His witness is not merely a record of positions held; it is the story of a lay professional who has made competence a form of service and leadership a work of stewardship,” it said.
The IBP commended Sales for his “life of service marked by professional integrity, intellectual formation, and steadfast commitment to the common good.”
He serves as an inspiration to fellow lawyers and the communities he serves, it said.
“This well-deserved recognition honors not only his distinguished career, but also his faithful dedication to law, education, and public service,” it added.
