Hontiveros asks NBI to go after brothels offering women like restaurant menus
The National Bureau of Investigation and Philippine National Police have been asked to crack the whip hard on brothels allegedly being maintained by Chinese operators, and believed to be frequented by Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (Pogo) workers.
This as opposition Sen. Risa Hontiveros, head of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, bared during a formal hearing several chat groups and threads of Chinese men where lewd photos of several women are posted.
Hontiveros claimed that photos of women were being offered like food in restaurant menus in brothels disguised as legitimate massage or spa facilities.
“May menu of services, parang restaurant. ‘Yung mga babae, parang in-o-order lang sa app ng mga Chinese members ng chatgroup. May menu, may presyo, then darating na lang sa hotel o condo mo,” she said.
“Kailangan na nating umaksyon. We need to look into suspending Pogo operations because they attract criminals into our country,” Hontiveros added, as she was seriously considering of pushing for the suspension of Pogo operations in the country.
According to her, prices for sexual services depend on the number of hours per tryst: P13,000 for one hour, P16,000 for an hour and a half, and P30,000 for the whole night.
