‘Hindi ka Sun!’ Peña asks people to stop hating on disaster alerts

Shortly after the National Disaster Risk Reduction Council (NDRRMC) started sending text alerts as Typhoon “Tisoy” made its landfall on Monday, netizens took to Twitter to express their annoyance at the disaster alerts system.

Some found the text alerts alarming and disruptive.

For abogado Gideon Peña, these reactions were insensitive and uncalled for.

“If you don’t want to receive alerts from #NDRRMC, you can always change the settings of your phone. But don’t tell them to stop sending alerts because the safety of the general public is more important than your comfort,” said Peña.

“Also, the world does not revolve around you. Hindi ka Sun,” he added.
