‘Hindi ako nataranta!’ Richard Gomez refutes Sal Panelo’s comment, calls for coordination and clarity
Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez denied Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo’s statement about his ‘unpreparedness’ for the flock of OFWs returning home.
The Politiko wrote on his Facebook page, “Sabi ni Sec. Panelo na natataranta daw ako. Hindi po ako natataranta tulad Po ng sinasabi ninyo.”
Goma noted that he was just following marching orders from DILG for LGUs. “Sumusunod lang po kami sa naunang utos ng DILG mismo sa briefing na ginawa nila sa LGU last Thursday, May 21, na 3 days prior to arrival of repatriates ay dapat may coordination from their LGU of origin and notice from the national agencies para ang ito ay mapaghandaan ng maayos.”
The actor turned politician also flexed his knowledge on the matter: “To be clear: Returnees have a constitutional right to come home but health protocols are in place because public health must be upheld and safeguarded even and especially as we do that. Meaning, there are ways to satisfy both if everyone is in sync and protocols are set in place and observed.”
Mayor Goma called for coordination from all stakeholders: “Wag niyo po masamain pag humihingi kami ng coordination sa inyo.”
The Ormoc City Mayor was commended by netizens, saying that he knows what he’s doing.

Panelo is all talk and no action. The good dedicated Mayor of Ormoc is making sure that safely measures is being followed . Very poor planning and no coordination on their part.
