Hilbay says Duterte abuses power vs ABS-CBN
Former solicitor general Pilo Hilbay called President Duterte’s denial to renew ABS-CBN’s franchise as “blatant abuse of public power.”
In an interview, Mr. Duterte said he will see to it that ABS-CBN’s franchise—which will expire next year—will not be renewed.
But Hilbay didn’t buy the President’s justification.
He said it’s because the President “simply doesn’t like ABS-CBN.”
“By exercise of presidential prerogative he seeks, with an ‘evil eye & uneven hand,’ to destroy a media company. This is blatant abuse of public power,” said Hilbay.
