Guevarra named OIC while Duterte is in China

Malacañang designated Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra as officer-in-charge while President Duterte is in China on official visit.

Guevarra will be the OIC from August 28 to September 1.

In Special Order 916 signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, all government departments, agencies, and instrumentalities were instructed to assist Guevarra in the discharge of his function of overseeing the day-to-day operations and general administration of the Executive department.

It added that all acts of Guevarra for and on behalf of Mr. Duterte “shall be deemed acts of the President unless disapproved or reprobated by the President.”

Duterte arrived in Beijing late Wednesday evening.

Two months ago, Guevarra was officer-in-charge of the Executive Department from June 21 to 23 while President Duterte is in Bangkok, Thailand to attend the 34th Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) Summit.
