Guevarra forms team to probe radio anchor’s murder
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Friday called for the creation of a special investigating team that will include the National Bureau of Investigation to probe the murder of radio anchor Eduardo “Ed” Dizon in Kidapawan City last Wednesday.
“As chair of the presidential task force on media violence, I have given instructions for the creation of a special investigating team (or SIT, which will surely include the NBI) to conduct an inquiry into the killing of Eduardo Dizon and to file appropriate charges against the perpetrators thereof.”
“Our SITs are headed by prosecutors in the field who assist in case build-up, and they coordinate actively with local law enforcement agents including the NBI,” Guevarr said in a statement.
Unidentified gunmen shot and killed Dizon, news anchor of 97.5 Brigada News FM Kidapawan, inside his own vehicle late Wednesday.
Dizon was driving home to Tejada Subdivision in Makilala town after hosting his “Tira Brigada” program when two men on a motorcycle opened fire on him along Quezon Boulevard near the Colegio de Kidapawan around 10:35 p.m.
Dizon managed to steer his car to the side of the road but died from five gunshots to the body.
