The Department of Justice-Office of Cybercrime (DOJ-OOC) and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) are pushing stronger government coordination against scams with the proposed National Anti-Scam Hub (NASH) emerging as a key measure in the fight against technology-enabled crimes.

The NASH proposal was among the major matters discussed during the PAOCC’s 3rd Quarter Commission Meeting on Sept. 29 at Bonifacio Hall, Malacañang Complex in Manila.

The proposed hub aims to strengthen the government’s ability to prevent, detect, investigate and respond to scams and other criminal activities carried out through digital platforms and technology.

The meeting brought together concerned government agencies to discuss ways to improve coordination and develop a more effective response to organized and transnational crime and other emerging threats.

Aside from scams, the agencies tackled measures against illegal offshore gaming operations, hazardous materials, fraudulent documents and other activities considered threats to public safety and national security.

The DOJ-OOC reaffirmed its commitment to working with other government agencies in addressing cybercrime and emerging threats in the digital environment.

The office stressed the importance of a whole-of-government approach, particularly as criminal activities become more technology-driven and increasingly involve networks that operate across jurisdictions.

The proposed NASH is intended to provide a stronger framework for government agencies to coordinate their efforts in dealing with scam-related and other technology-enabled criminal activities.#
