The Office of the City Prosecutor of Makati has junked blogger Jover Laurio’s appeal in connection with the libel cases she filed against social media influencer Franco Mabanta.

In a decision dated December 3, 2018, Assistant City Prosecutor Maria Ghia Evangelista-Vizcarra said Laurio did not present any new arguments in her motion for reconsideration.

“As it is, complainant has not forwarded any significant evidence or alleged errors of fact or law that can otherwise give merit to the motion for reconsideration,” the decision read.

Laurio sued Mabanta in 2017 for four counts of libel over his Facebook posts where he called her an “Ogre Lady” who is “profoundly disgusting” and “hideous.”

Mabanta also accused Laurio, who owns the “Pinoy Ako Blog,” of being funded by the “Yellows,” referring to the Liberal Party and its supporters.

In June 2018, the Office of the City Prosecutor of Makati issued a resolution junking the cases filed by Laurio against Mabanta for lack of probable cause.
