The Sandiganbayan has acquitted former Cordon (Isabela) Water District (CWD) general manager Godofredo Vicmudo of graft and malversation charges for receiving P18,042 in cash advances for his allegedly unauthorized travels to Quezon City.

In a recent 16-page decision, the court’s 4th Division said Ombudsman prosecutors failed to prove Vicmudo was required to obtain authority from the CWD board of directors for his travels to the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) head office from July 2009 to October 2010.

The decision, penned by Associate Justice Bayani Jacinto, cited the affidavit of current general manager Ted Corpus that there was no such policy.
