Ex-CJ Panganiban floats Drilon among 2022 presidentiables
A former Supreme Court chief justice wants seasoned abogado Sen. Franklin Drilon to join the race to the presidency next year.
Retired CJ Artemio Panganiban floated the long-time lawmaker’s name in his May 2 column for the Philippine Daily Inquirer, who in his opinion was left out of early election surveys of local pollsters.
“Brilliant, diligent, and with no pork barrel or other scandals haunting him, Frank is the most experienced public servant around. He had served as executive secretary, justice secretary, and labor secretary,” Panganiban said. “He has been elected senator for four terms (24 years), topping the race in 2016, and had been Senate president several times.”
For him, Drilon should get Vice President Leni Robredo as his running mate, with Robredo aiming for the post a second time. Earlier, Drilon said Robredo is easily the Liberal Party’s best bet for 2022.
Meanwhile, other names which the legal luminary floated for the top two national seats are bilyonaryo Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, who he projects to be Sen. Manny Pacquiao’s running mate; Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia as the #2 of loser VP bet Bongbong Marcos, and Sen. Win Gatchalian next to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
