Former Representative Erin Tañada extends his support to the University of the Philippines after DND terminated their accord with the university. The abogado said that while he is not an alumnus, his grandfather and cousins are.

I am not from the UP but my Lolo and some of my cousins are. I denounce the unilateral termination of the UP-DND Agreement. This termination of the Agreement will enable the security forces to harass and execute students. This is a violation of academic freedom. #NoToRedTagging

Tañada believes that this is a threat to academic freedom since it will allow for the harassment and threatening of students. The abogado also expressed his condemnation for the continuous red tagging being done by the government.
