Erin Tañada schools Panelo on VFA, EDCA
Abogado Erin Tañada corrects Presidential spokesperson, Sal Panelo for yet another error. The abogado said that the President could not just dismantle the Visiting Forces Agreement.
I think Sec Panelo should review the history of the VFA. The VFA is a treaty ratified by the Senate during the administration of PErap. It is the EDCA that is an Executive Agreement. It is my opinion that Treaties ratified by the Senate should need the Senate’s concurrence. https://t.co/pL7XcjNh60

Tañada noted that the VFA was signed during President Joseph Estrada’s time with the concurrence of the Senate. The abogado noted that it is the EDCA that was passed by an Executive Order.
The abogado advised that they are going to need Senate approval if they want to cancel VFA.
All these for Bato? Labo!
