Erin Tanada on Maria Ressa’s arrest: ‘No law, no crime!’
Atty. Erin Tanada slams the National Bureau of Investigation for arresting Rappler CEO Maria Ressa. The abogado mentioned that there is no Cybercrime Law yet when the alleged article was released.
The arrest of @mariaressa proves how the present government has no space for a free press. There is no basis for her arrest because the crime she is accused to have committed was not a crime because there was no cyber law at the time. “When there is no law, there is no crime.”

Tanada said that this only proves that this government could not tolerate a free press. The abogado insisted that there is no basis for the arrest given that it is not cover by cybercrime law then.
The abogado might be on to something given that the article was published in May 2012. There is no Cybercrime Law until later that year.
