Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete on Friday announced the finding of prima facie evidence against Dr. Bryan Sy, owner of the hugely controversial Wellmed Dialysis and Wellbess Center Corporation implicated in Philippine Health Insurance Corp. fiasco, along with two other individuals for the complex crime of estafa thru falsification of official documents.

Perete identified the two others as whistleblowers Edwin Robero and Liezel de Leon.

“The investigating prosecutor found that the Wellmed officers conspired in using falsified documents to collect payments from Philhealth for alleged medical services to patients who were already dead,” Perete said in a SMS to reporters.

“The inquest prosecutor meanwhile referred the case against seven other Wellmed officers/employees for preliminary investigation. Said employees were not brought to the prosecutor for inquest,” he added.
