DoJ clears Trece Martires mayor for vice mayor’s killing
Government prosecutors on Tuesday exonerated Trece Martires City Mayor Melandres Desagun for the murder of Vice Mayor Alexander Lubigan last year.
Also, the Department of Justice dismissed the two counts of murder complaint lodged against Luis Abad Jr. and Ronel Bersamina.
While the charges against them were dismissed, two counts of murder were filed against Ariel F. Paiton and Maragondon, Cavite Municipal Councilor Lawrence Arca.
Paiton has been identified as the alleged gunman while Arca allegedly provided the getaway vehicle.
Lubigan and his driver Romulo Guillemer were attacked last July 7 in front of a Korean restaurant along Barangay Luciano in Cavite.
