Courts in Taguig on lockdown to contain COVID-19

The Taguig City regional trial court (RTC), Metropolitan trial courts (MeTCs), and the Offices of Clerk of Court (OCCs) have been placed under a 14-day lockdown after an employee tested positive during COVID-19 rapid testing.

In a joint memorandum, Taguig City RTC Executive Judge Leili Cruz Suarez and Taguig City MeTC Executive Judge Ma. Victoria Padilla-Awid likewise ordered all judges and court personnel in RTCs, MeTCs, and OCCs to go on self-quarantine for 14 days starting June 25 to July 9, 2020.

Aside from the court staff who tested positive during rapid testing for COVID-19, another court personnel had a close contact with an infected person.

During the quarantine period, courts including the OCCs are physically closed, the memorandum reads.

The concerned courts, the memorandum continued, have been required to conduct contact-tracing to prevent the coronavirus from further spreading.

“All RTCs and MeTCs, as well as the OCCs will be physically closed during the quarantine period. However, court operations shall continue and the offices may be contacted through their respective hotline numbers and judiciary emails. ”

” Courts may also conduct video conference hearings and accept pleadings through electronic filing pursuant to existing circulars issued by the Supreme Court, ” the memorandum said. #
