Court impleads 2 communist bigwigs in government case
The Manila regional trial court on Tuesday came up with a ruling impleading communist stalwart Jose Maria “Joma” Sison a party in the government’s prescription case seeking to declare the Communist Party of the Philippines and New People’s Army as terror groups
Likewise, Judge Marlo Magdoza-Malagar also declared Mindanao Commission secretary Antonio Cabanatan, also a party after his links to the CPP-NPA was established by the Department of Justice.
The RTC declined to include six other individuals in the prescription case after their complicity wasn’t established during investigation.
This developed, as Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra welcomed the development, saying the Manila court’s ruling was an affirmation of the government’s position against the leaders of CPP-NPA.
“This is a positive development in our proscription case against CPP-NPA. Now the CPP-NPA has a judicially declared physical representation in the persons of Sison and Cabanatan,” he stressed.
