Chinese girl in viral ‘taho’ tantrums indicted
The Mandaluyong City Prosecutors Office on Tuesday recommended the indictment of Chinese Zhang Jiale who was caught on viral videos throwing “taho” to a police officer last Saturday.
This was after probable cause was established against Jiale for her tantrums.
“Respondent’s act is an abrasive affront against an officer in uniform representing a national institution,” read the inquest resolution signed.
The resolution said the act of throwing a cup of taho to the police officer who was performing his duties as police officer “is considered deliberate and serious defiance.”
“It is offensive both by legal and moral norm considering that there was no provocation on the part of the police officer,” read the resolution.
But the handling prosecutor dismissed the complaint for disobedience because it is considered “necessary consequence of the assault while the unjust vexation is deemed absorbed in direct assault.”
Zhang, a fashion student, was stopped at the MRT 3 station in Mandaluyong City for carrying a cup of taho and was told to consume it before being allowed entry.
The MRT management has been implementing a no-liquid policy inside the station and train premises as part of the security measures following the twin bombing at the Jolo Cathedral which was perpetrated by two suicide bombers.
Insisting that she bring the taho with her, she was approached by Police Officer 1 William Cristobal who tried explaining to her why she can’t.
However, Zhang threw the cup of taho at the policeman who got splashed on his uniform.
