Carpio, Leonen laugh off inclusion in destab list
Supreme Court Associate Justices Antonio Carpio and Marvic Leonen on Sunday denied allegations of their alleged involvment in a supposed plot to unseat President Duterte as claimed by presidential son Paolo in his Facebook account.
“I consider that as a joke. It’s laughable,” Carpio said, as he laughed off a supposed list of individuals and groups, that included him and Leonen and some pro-Duterte personalisties, as those responsible in the ouster move.
“The cast of characters include Victor Corpus, who is very pro-Duterte, and also Carmen Pedrosa, who si rabidly pro-Duterte, so I cannot imagine how these people can be destabilizers,” he stressed.
Carpio said that he ignored the supposed list of destabilizers for being utterly incredible.
For his part, Leonen also belittled his inclusion in the supposed list of destabilizers.
“I am vegan. I do not collude nor conspire with Jollibee,” he posted on his Twitter account.
Among those included in the list with Carpio and Leonen were Vice President Leni Robredo, former vice president Jejomar Binay, former chief justice Hilario Davide, opposition Sens. Leila de Lima and Risa Hontiveros, former Cabinet members Corazon Soliman, Florencio Abad, Paquito Ochoa, Cesar Purisima and former police chief Alan Purisima.
Also in the list were Catholic bishops Broderick Pabillo, Leo Drona, Antonio Tobias, Deogracias Iñiguez, Pablo David and journalists Maria Ressa, Ellen Tordesillas and Ed Lingao.
