Carpio, Dapat Isa Lang launch digital platform for anti-dynasty law petition

Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio and other members of the Dapat Isa Lang coalition have launched their online signature campaign to make it easier for registered voters to support the petition for a People’s Initiative to pass a genuine anti-political dynasty law.

The coalition is pushing for a law that will only allow a family to hold one national post and one local post. It also states that the prohibition should cover up to the fourth degree of consanguinity.

Their proposed measure also seeks to prohibit simultaneous or successive holding of national elective office or local elective office.

The digital signature platform seeks to make it easier and more accessible for registered voters to support the petition.

The coalition also released a tutorial video with Carpio showing how people can sign the petition online.

Those who want to support the bill may visit d1l.org to read the petition, which explains why it is important to put an end to political dynasties.

After reading it, they may click the “sign the petition” button, after which they have to review the data privacy policy and click if they agree with it.

They must also provide their personal details, including where they are registered as voters.

They would also have to upload a photo of their signature on a piece of paper, as well as a selfie of them with the paper containing their signature.
