Carl-Kulot slay case now in Navotas court
Prosecutors of the Department of Justice have refiled the murder case of teenagers Carl Angelo Arnaiz and Reynaldo “Kulot” de Guzman before the Navotas City Regional Trial Court (RTC).
This development came shortly after the Caloocan City Regional Trial Court (RTC) dismissed the murder charges against Police Officers 1 (PO1) Jeffrey Perez and Ricky Arquilita, without prejudice to being filed in the proper court.
Navotas RTC Branch 287 Judge Romana Maria Melchora del Rosario would now handle the case.
Prosecutors previously sought the withdrawal of the murder charges over jurisdictional grounds, after witness “Joe Daniels” testified that he saw Arnaiz being shot along C-3 Road corner Dalagang Bukid and Tanigue Streets in Navotas City.
The charges of torture and planting of evidence remain pending before the Caloocan court.
The policemen claimed Arnaiz, a student of the University of the Philippines (UP), was killed during a gunfight after supposedly robbing a taxi driver.
