‘Bwiset kayo!’ Duterte eyes arrest of people resisting COVID-19 vaccines
President Rodrigo Duterte is eyeing “strong arm” policies to beat COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in the Philippines.
An exasperated Duterte ranted against people refusing the vaccine jabs for whatever reason, saying it had no place in a national emergency.
“Ang tigas ng ulo eh,” he said in his Monday night speech. “Kung ayaw mong magpabakuna, ipaaresto kita. At ang bakuna ay… itusok ko sa puwet mo. P***** i**. Bwiset kayo.”
“Walang may gusto niyan. Pero kung hindi kayo magpabakuna,
umalis kayo sa Pilipinas. Go to India if you want or somewhere, to America. But for as long as you are here and you are a human being, and can carry the virus, eh magpabakuna ka,” he added.
“Otherwise, I will order all the barangay captains to have a tally of the people who refuse to be vaccinated. Kasi ‘pag hindi ‘yong Ivermectin na para sa baboy ang ipatira ko sa iyo. Ayon patay talaga pati ikaw.”
Duterte couldn’t fathom how Pinoys are refusing to receive the vaccines when the government is only after public welfare.
“Kayong mga barangay captains, I’ll task the DILG to do that, to look for these persons… Mamili kayo: magpabakuna kayo o ipakulong ko kayo sa selda?,” Duterte added. “I will think it over very hard, legally, of course. Pero ‘pag hindi, ayaw ninyo, ipaaresto ko kayo. That is in pursuance of a policy of our crisis of itong health issue.”
