After being absent for a week or two from the Justice Department compound in Manila, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla reassured the public of his well-being, claming that he is now in good health condition following complications from a heart bypass surgery several months ago.

Addressing reporters at a press conference, Remulla acknowledged the challenges he faced during his recovery, and said, “I’m actually ok (now). Alam ninyo naman, na-bypass ako dati. I just had complications that I had to (manage), that I’m going through up to now, (and) my immune system (is still recovering). But I’m okay.”

Despite his absence, Remulla vowed his commitment to his duties, stating that he continued working from home, maintaining constant communication with DOJ officials through videoconferencing.

“I’m on the way to complete recovery. I need to take, of course, some time. I’m 62 years old and may depreciation na ang katawan natin. But I’m able to work from home, effectively. I’m able to discuss with our assecs and the directors the issues in the DOJ,” he said.

He affirmed his dedication to fulfilling his responsibilities and leading the department, expressing his intention to continue serving as long as he is capable.

“So as long as I’m able to fulfill my (duty), to be able to fulfill my responsibilities and lead the department, then we will continue serving,” he added.

Last July, Remulla revealed that he underwent a coronary artery bypass surgery, also known as a “heart bypass.”

Despite the seriousness of the procedure, he affirmed his intention to remain in office, stating that his medical condition would not hinder his performance. #
