Biglang kampi sa kinasuhan! NTF-ELCAC happy with dismissal of first-ever ATL case

The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF ELCAC) now said it is pleased to hear that the first known charges under the Anti-Terrorism Law against two Aetas in Zambales have been dismissed.

The body took a fresh spin on the news of an Olongapo court ordering the release of accused Japer Gurung and Junior Ramos after months of detention for being accused as terrorist rebels.

“The decision has clearly shown that our Justice system works, hears and decides cases fairly, without fear or favor. Both NTF-ELCAC and NCIP ceaselessly worked together to remove our IP brothers from the exploitative clutches of the CPP-NPA-NDF including their front organizations, like Karapatan, so that their case will the justly heard under our system of laws,” NTF ELCAC said in a joint statement with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples.

“We wish to thank our security forces and our agencies, especially the Public Attorneys Office, for extending their consideration as well as tremendous assistance and support since the trial began,” it added.
