BI nabs Chinese national with POGO links in Bacolod

A Chinese national with suspected links to the now illegal Philippine offshore gaming operations was arrested earlier this month in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, the Bureau of Immigration said.

Xie Yingwen, 34, was apprehendee on August 6 along Yulo St. in Brgy. 16 in Bacolod City.

BI commissioner Joel Anthony Viado issued a mission order for Xie’s arrest after the agency received information from intelligence sources about the suspect.

The BI also tagged him as an undesirable alien, given his alleged links to online gaming operations.

Xie was unable to present any identification and was later found to have failed to extend his visa, making him an overstaying alien.

Xie also admitted to have previously worked in Manila as a vendor of food and fruits.

“Our operations are not merely centralized in Metro Manila Our cooperation with local government units, local police, and the intelligence community allows us to locate and arrest illegal aliens that might be hiding in different areas of the country,” Viado said.

Xie was immediately transferred to the BI’s holding facility in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City where he will remain while facing deportation charges filed against him.
