Four Chinese nationals allegedly involved in cyber fraud activities were arrested in an operation targeting suspected illegal Philippine offshore gaming operators in Muntinlupa City last week, the Bureau of Immigration said.

In a statement, the BI said the suspects were arrested on September 4 in Alabang, Muntinlupa City by virtue of a mission order issued by BI commissioner Joel Anthony Viado.

BI Fugitive Search Unit chief Rendel Sy said the Chinese nationals were caught in the act while allegedly engaged in cyberfraud activities.

They were identified as Qiao Zhong, 30, an undocumented foreigner; Tang Ke, 31, an overstaying foreigner without a proper visa; Liu Peng, 35, an overstaying alien; and Zhang Caiyu, 42, a forner POGO worker who has been overstaying in the country and is facing a blacklist order.

“The Bureau of Immigration will remain relentless in enforcing our immigration laws and in supporting the government’s policy to shut down illegal POGO operations. We will continue to use intelligence-led operations to identify and apprehend foreign nationals who violate Philippine laws,” Viado said.

He also urged the public to immediately report any information or observations involving foreign nationals suspected of engaging in illegal activities in the country.

Reports may be made through the BI hotline at (+632) 8-465-2400, or through email at immigPH@immigration.gov.ph and xinfo@immigration.gov.ph.
