Bel Zamora draws netizens’ attention with gun question

House prosecutor and San Juan Rep. Bel Zamora drew reactions from netizens for how she questioned a Philippine National Police officer about the registered firearms of Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband, Manases Carpio, who have a total of 51 firearms.

Zamora, a lawyer, spoke in a measured way and paused before certain words during her direct examination of PNP Firearms and Explosives Office records chief Police Major Joericson Sangalang.

One moment that elicited reactions online was Zamora asking Sangalang whether it was appropriate for the Vice President to have many firearms.

Duterte has 22 registered firearms, while her husband has 29.

“Tama ba na ang ating Vice President ay may ganito kalaking… baril?” Zamora asked.

Defense counsel Carlo Narvasa objected to the question, which was sustained for being hypothetical and speculative.

Online, netizens commented on how she posed the question, describing it as “mesmerizing,” “flirtatious,” and “inappropriate.”

There were also those who said Zamora just speaks that way, and it could be seen in her earlier press conferences and interviews.
