Ateneo Law School Dean Ma. Ngina Teresa “Maita” V. Chan-Gonzaga expressed condolences to the family and friends of first-year law student Nath Zimuel Rocfort Alcantara, who died on Sept. 18.
In a message to the Ateneo Law School community, Chan-Gonzaga said the school was mourning the loss of “one of our own.”
“It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the sad news that one of our own, Nath Zimuel Rocfort Alcantara of 1D, passed away on Friday, 18 September 2026,” the dean said.
She urged members of the law school community to pray for Alcantara’s eternal repose and for the consolation of his bereaved family and friends.
Chan-Gonzaga also called on members of the community to support one another as they grieve.
“Let us please accompany each other as we also mourn. No one should have to stand alone when sorrow touches our community,” she said.
The dean encouraged members of the community to reach out to anyone who may be struggling with the loss.
“We may not be able to take the pain away, but perhaps we can simply be present for each other and, with a quiet word or two, ease the grief a bit,” she said.
Alcantara’s wake is being held at San Fernando Funeral Homes and Crematory in Lipa City, Batangas.
His funeral is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m.#
