Angara reminds teachers to check on students’ well-being

Education Secretary Sonny Angara said teachers’ duties go beyond making sure that students learn their lessons in class.

Angara said they should also actively check on the learners’ well-being.

He noted that teachers spend time and interact with the students every day.

They should check on students’ well-being and assure them that they can seek help for their problems.

“Kaya mahalagang hindi lang natin sila maturuan, kundi makumusta rin ang kanilang kalagayan at matiyak na may malalapitan sila kapag may pinagdaraanan,” he said.

He also earlier called on parents to keep watch over their children and to check in on them.

He made the statements following the recent spate of school violence, the latest of which was a fatal shooting at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University.
