The Philippine National Police is carrying out its mandate in accordance with the law and is uninfluenced by bias or partisan politics, Malacañang said on Saturday amid Vice President Sara Duterte’s remarks that she fears for her safety.

In a statement, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace press officer Claire Castro said the police force remains focused on serving the Filipino people.

“Ipinatutupad ng PNP ang kanilang mandato ayon sa batas, walang kinikilingan at ng walang halong pulitika kundi para bawat Filipino lamang, ” she said.

Castro made the remarks after Duterte said she feared for her safety after police personnel went to where her children lived. This was after a Quezon City court ordered her arrest for three counts of grave threats.

The Vice President – who allegedly threatened to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his family during a 2024 online press briefing – said she is afraid that authorities are out to kill her.

Duterte posted bail on Saturday morning before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.

Castro stressed that the PNP remains professional as an organization.
