Akbayan’s Cendaña files NBI complaint vs online influencers over alleged attacks

Akbayan Party-list Rep. Perci Cendaña has filed a complaint with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) against online influencers over alleged violations of the Magna Carta of Disabled Persons and the Safe Spaces Act.

Cendaña, a stroke survivor, said he has been subjected to online posts mocking his facial features following his stroke as well as allegedly homophobic and other dehumanizing remarks.

The complaint, filed with the NBI Cybercrime Division, identifies at least 30 social media accounts allegedly involved in the posts.

Cendaña was accompanied by advocates for persons with disabilities as he sought an investigation into the online posts, which he said could constitute public ridicule and vilification of persons with disabilities and gender-based sexual harassment.

Among those identified in the complaint were online personalities using the names “Cho Moreno,” “MP Miko Pogay” and “Kiffy Chu.”#
