Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV renewed his allegation that the Duterte family received money from Davao-based businessman Samuel Uy, whom he accused of being a drug lord.
Trillanes alleged that the Duterte family members received P181.65 million from Uy, a contributor to former President Rodrigo Duterte’s presidential campaign.
In a press conference Friday, Trillanes also said this was relevant to Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial even if the transactions he found took place before her current term.
“Kapag tumanggap ka ng pera mula sa ilegal na droga, yung mantsa na iyan, hindi yan matatanggal ng pagka-elect mo sa pagka-Vice President. Bitbit mo iyan, hindi mo pwede sabihing ‘hindi, noon pa ako tumanggap sa drug lord.’ Lumalabas yun, you are unfit to be Vice President kasi nga tumatanggap ka sa drug lord,” he said.
He showed a summary of alleged transactions between Uy and members of the Duterte family from 2011 to 2013.
He said this was confirmed by records from the Anti-Money Laundering Council.
He alleged that Vice President Sara Duterte received P22.32 million from Uy while she was Davao City mayor.
Aside from Sara, he alleged that Rodrigo Duterte (P15.65 million), Sebastian Duterte (P51.58 million), Paolo Duterte (P38.81 million), and Cielito Avancena, in trust for her daughter Veronica Duterte (P53.28 million) also received money from Uy.
Trillanes said the former President had styled himself as an enemy of illegal drugs but was in cahoots with an alleged drug lord.
“Iyan yung pinakamalaking pambu-budol sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas na hanggang ngayon, unfortunately, may mga supporter pa rin siya na talagang in-love na in-love pa rin sa kanila,” he said.
Trillanes held the press conference a day after withdrawing as a prosecution witness in the Vice President’s impeachment trial.
