Lawyer Mickey Ingles shared the story about his and his two high school friends topping the Bar exams in three different years and gave an update about where they are now.
On Facebook, Ingles reposted the viral story by the Facebook page Philippine Scholar, which recounted how he and his Ateneo high school friends and batchmates Cesareo Antonio Singzon Jr. and Raoul Angelo Atadero entered Ateneo law school in different years.
They also took the Bar in three successive years, each of them ranking number 1 when the results came out.
According to Philippine Scholar, Singzon was the first to take the Bar in 2010 after graduating valedictorian of his class. He ranked number 1 in the exam.
The following year, Atadero also graduated valedictorian and received the highest score when the Bar results came out.
In 2012, it was Ingles’ turn to take the Bar after graduating salutatorian and ranked number one as well.
Philippine Scholar quoted Atadero as saying that the three-peat started as a joke, with the group even saying they would disown whoever would break the streak.
In the end, they kept the record.
In his own Facebook post, Ingles said that in high school, they were all classmates in the block considered the honor class.
They all graduated from high school in 2002 and from college in 2006. But they decided to enroll in law school at different times and graduated in successive years.
“It was my 2nd three peat. First with the Ateneo Football Team, winning the UAAP Championship from 2004-2006. Second with my high school buddies, topping the bar from 2010-2012. Good times,” he said.
He said Singzon is now a big shot lawyer in Hong Kong, while Atadero is a big shot lawyer in the United States.
He joked that he’s “still a short lawyer in the Philippines.”
Ingles is a sports law expert and was recently appointed to the Court of Justice of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF).
