The 2027 Bar exams will be held on September 5, 8, and 12 in local testing centers throughout the country and administered electronically.
Only laws, rules, and issuances in force, and jurisprudence promulgated as of June 30, 2026, are covered, according to Bar Bulletin No. 1-2027.
It also states that only the doctrines and dispositions in the main opinion are examinable.
Computations would only involve basic arithmetic and there would be no numerical computations to determine the specific periods of penalties expressed in years, months, or days.
There will be 20 essay problems for each subject.
“The questions will test what a beginning lawyer is expected to know and be able to do: understand the governing principles, apply them to the facts, and articulate the legal reasoning connecting the two,” the bulletin stated.
A weighted general average of 75 percent in all subjects is required to pass.
Day 1 will cover Political and Public International Law (15 percent) and Commercial and Taxation Laws (20 percent).
Day 2 will cover Civil Law and Land Titles and Deeds (20 percent) and Labor Law and Social Legislation (10 percent).
Day 3 will cover Criminal Law (10 percent) and Remedial Law, Legal and Judicial Ethics, with Practical Exercises (25 percent).
