2 radio blocktimers get 8 years for cyberlibel over Facebook posts against Lala Mendoza
Two radio blocktime broadcasters have been sentenced to eight years in prison for criticizing Cotabato Governor Emmylou Mendoza on social media.
In a recent 7-page decision, Kidapawan City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 23 Judge Jose Tabosares found Larry Subillaga and Eric Rodinas guilty of cyberlibel.
The judge also imposed a P1-million fine on the broadcasters.
Mendoza’s complaint arose from the two mediamen’s Facebook posts in March 2017 accusing her of corruption and pocketing government funds earmarked for the province’s projects.
Rodinas, whose Facebook account is named Sherwin Dugaduga, is connected with FM station Radyo Natin, while Subillaga is a freelance broadcaster and social media blogger.
