Topacios seeks Koko Pimentel’s disqualification
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has been asked to reject the certificate of candidacy of re-electionist Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III.
Lawyer Ferdinand Topacio disclosed Pimentel was elected as senator in 2007 and would have served for 18 years should he win in the 2019 midterm election.
He stressed the lawmaker has already completed his two terms as member of the Senate, hence should not be allowed to run again.
Topacio continued that Pimentel’s first term was in 2007 when the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) held that he won in that year’s election, and his second term in 2013.
Meanwhile, Pimentel described as nuisance Topacio’s disqualification case, saying his lawyers will answer the suit in due time nonetheless.
