Duterte appoints another Bedan to SC
Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justice Jose Reyes Jr. was appointed on Friday as the newest magistrate of the Supreme Court (SC) replacing Associate Justice Presbitero Velasco, Jr. who recently retired from service.
Reyes will take his oath on Monday, Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go confirmed.
He was chosen by President Duterte from the shortlist of candidates, namely CA Associate Justice Amy Lazaro Javier, CA Associate Justice Ramon Garcia, CA Associate Justice Apolinario Bruselas, CA Associate Justice Rosmari Carandang,
CA Associate Justice Ramon Paul Hernando, Court Administrator Midas Marquez, and former Ateneo Law School dean Cesar Villanueva.
Reyes finished law at the San Beda College, which incidentally, the alma mater of the President.
He’s Mr. Duterte’s fifth appointment to the high bench.
