Ano ba ‘yang EJK? Duterte points it’s not covered by Revised Penal Code
President Rodrigo Duterte is not worried about being charged for the thousands of extrajudicial killings in his brutal war on drugs.
Duterte pointed out that the term “extrajudicial killing” is not recognized under the Philippine law.
“Hindi ko nga alam kung ano ‘yang extrajudicial killing. Eh wala ‘yan sa Revised Penal Code,” said Duterte in a speech.
With the repeal of the death penalty in 2006, there are no judicial killings in the country with life imprisonment the worst punishment.
Duterte has continued to encourage the police to use full force in going after drug suspects because he would take full responsibility for their acts. The police claimed that the fatalities in anti-drug operations fought back during their arrest or in the local term “nanlaban.”
